A decoração de Natal e Ano Novo de Viena transformam o centro da cidade todos os anos num imenso salão de baile. A rua principal – chamada Graben – fica coberta de lustres gigantes que dão uma sensação de estarmos realmente indoors e as pequenas ruas adjacentes seguem o mesmo tema. É nesse ambiente de pura festa onde milhares de pessoas se encontram na noite de Ano Novo para comemorar a passagem de ano da maneira mais vienense possível: dançando valsa!!

Desde as seis da tarde, animadores ajudam a multidão a aprender os passos básicos da dança. A valsa da meia noite ainda se extende até de madrugada, bem depois de terminada a (quase) eterna queima de fogos. E não são só turistas não! Aqui a tradição é passar o Ano Novo na rua mesmo! Um pouco antes da meia noite, as pessoas saem de suas festas particulares e vão pra rua comemorar todas juntas, no centro ou nos bairros, sem show ou atração especial… o que importa é estar junto dos seus familiares, amigos, vizinhos, turistas e dividir com eles essa alegria festiva por mais 365 dias.

Seasons’s street decoration in Vienna transforms the center of the city every year in a huge ball-room. The main street – called Graben – is covered by giant chandeliers that give the sensation of be indoors and the small side strees follow the same theme. In this festive mood thousands of people come together at New Year’s Eve to celebrate it in the most viennese manner: dancing waltz!!

Since six p.m. the crowd gets instructed how to dance the basic steps os the dance. The midnight waltz goes on until late in the night, far after the end of the (almost) eternal fireworks. And there are not only tourists! New Year’s Eve tradition here is simply to be on the streets!! A little before midnight everybody leaves their private parties at home and go to street to celebrate all together, in the center or neighbourhoods, without any big show or nothing… what really matters is being tofether with your family, friends, neighbours, tourists, whoever!!! And then… share with everybody the joy of this evening for another 365 days.
