Eu me lembro que um dia enquanto tomava meu banho olhei para os antigos azulejos do banheiro e pensei: preciso me livrar deles! Eu só não sabia como, afinal o apartamento é alugado… não poderia trocá-los e não tinha autorização para uma mudança mais definitiva. De repente, ainda no banho, pensei que poderia fazer algo simples, como fazemos normalmente no teatro, com cenários, ou seja, conseguir um revestimento que não danificasse os azulejos mas que mudasse tudo!

A alternativa foi cobrir os azulejos do banheiro todo com papel contact – o mesmo tipo que usei na cozinha, mas a mudança no banheiro foi anterior. Escolhi por o papel espelhado da altura da cintura pra cima e um cinza bem escuro dali até o chão. O papel espelhado é o mais fácil de aplicar. Como ele é bem grosso e firme, “obedece” bem aos movimentos. No final é só passar o dedo para marcar a divisão entre os azulejos e parece que o papel foi colocado individualmente!

Nem o chão escapou de receber revestimento: mármore branco!! Mas esse foi o mais difícil de todos porque, ao contrário do espelhado, o papel é muito fino e isso faz com que ele seja difícil de manusear.

Todos me perguntam se esse revestimento não é ruim para o banheiro, local de tanta umidade e vapor quente. Já se passou quase um ano que fiz a nova cobertura e até hoje está intacto, não levantou nenhuma beiradinha. 🙂

 

I remember one day I was taking my shower when I looked at the old tiles in the bathroom and thought: I must get rid of them! I just didn’t know how since the pad is a rent… I could not substitute them and didn’t have permission to make anything too definitive. Suddenly, in the middle of my shower, I had the idea to do something quite simple, like we normally do in the theatre, with the settings: I just had to look for a covering that wouldn’t damage the tiles but still change it completely!

I made the choice to cover the tiles with self-adhesive sheets – the same I used in the kitchen, but the change in the bathroom was the very first one. I choosed the sheets with mirror effect (above the waistline) and a very dark grey untill the floor. That mirrored paper is the easiest to apply. Since the paper is very thick and steady, it “obeys” well all your mouvements. At the end, you just force your finger against the gap between the tiles and it looks like you did it one by one!

Even the floor got a new covering: white marble!! But that was the most dificult because, unlike the mirrored, this paper is very thin and this makes it dificult to handle.

Everybody asks me if this covering is not a bad choice for the bathroom, since it’s a place full of humidity and hot steam. It has been almost one year I did the revestment and until today it is completely unspoiled even in the edges. 🙂
