Bom dia! Dizer que a iluminação de um ambiente é um fator essencial pra ele “dar certo” é tão óbvio que nem dá pra começar o texto assim né… ups, mas já comecei!

A luz é tão importante e tão necessária que a gente acaba não dando a devida atenção, acreditando que é só iluminar tudo bastante pra não trombar nos móveis ou achar uma agulha que caiu no chão e pronto! Mas não é bem assim… “mal iluminado” também inclui “iluminado demais”, principalmente se a iluminação vier de uma única fonte pendurada sozinha no meio do teto… tem coisa mais chata que isso? (Tem sim, uma parede branca atrás da outra hahaha).

Brincadeiras à parte, é claro que tudo aquilo que eu de vez em quando chamo de “chato” tem a sua hora e a sua vez. Eu só reclamo um pouco quando as pessoas fazem algo  achando que “tem que ser daquele jeito”, sem refletir que talvez mudando um pouquinho possa ficar muito mais legal. Qualquer decisão tomada conscientemente é sempre melhor do que sair acreditando no que os outros dizem ser o certo ou errado sem se questionar e procurar o significado que aquilo tem para si mesmo.

Bom, ontem fiquei até tarde fotografando minha sala, sempre do mesmo lugar (o que dificulta muito o trabalho, desculpem aí), só variando a iluminação pra comparar. Essa brincadeira faz parte da tentativa de por em prática um conselho que ouvi da super designer inglesa Abigail Ahern e me pareceu inicialmente um exagero: cada ambiente deve ter, no mínimo, 8 fontes de luz!! Repito: no mínimo! Ou seja, pode ter ainda mais. Claro que não é pra acender tudo ao mesmo tempo – se bem que numa festa, por exemplo, o efeito pode ser fantástico. O segredo é poder iluminar cada momento de uma maneira diferente, cada estado de espírito, cada companhia ou mesmo, os momentos solitários mais aconchegantes.

Dica: não compare as fotos ao lado somente pensando em “mais claro” ou “mais escuro”… tente imaginar uma cor diferente, ou um momento propício para cada luz. Também existem coisas deliciosas para se fazer no escuro… 😉

Telling that lights are such an essential factor in a room is so obvious that I can’t begin the text today with that… oh, I just did!

Lights are so important and so necessary that we end up not really paying attention at it as we should. We may believe that it is just as simple as lighting everything up so you don’t bump into the furniture or find easily a needle that felt on the floor and that is it! But it is not really true… “bad lighting” also includes “too much lighting”, specially when the lighting comes from one single source hanging in the middle of the ceiling… Is there anything more boring than that? (Yes, a white wall after another hahahaha).

Letting my jokes by side, of course all that I once in while call “boring” has its turn in the right moment and place… I just complain a little when people do things thinking it “must be” like that, without checking how is it for themselves or if maybe in a specific case a little change wouldn’t have a fab effect! Any mindfull choice is better than just believing what someone else tells right or wrong without questioning it or without checking the meaning it has for oneself.

So, yesterday I was awake till late photographing my living room, always from the very same place (what makes everything much more dificult, sorry), only varying the lighting so we can compare. This game is part of an attempt I’m doing to hear an advice from my favorite designer Abigail Ahern although it sounds exagerated at first sight: each room might have, at least, 8 diferent sources of light! I repeat: at least! That means… it can be more. Of course you are not expected to turn on everything at once – although in a party, for instance, that can be a fantastic effect. The secret is having diferent lighting possibilities for each moment, each mood of your spirit, each company you have but also your cozy solitary moments.

Tip: Don’t compare the pictures beside according only to “brighter” or “darker”. Try to capture diferent moods or the most appropriate situation for each lighting. There are things that are even more fun in the dark 😉
