Ontem à noite resolvi fazer mais uma pequena brincadeira com os seguidores da minha conta do Instagram postando a primeira foto acima sem dizer o que é pra ver se agluém adivinhava… Ainda acabo de postar uma foto de “segunda chance” e só mais tarde vou publicar a solução, contando o que você já está descobrindo com esse texto 😉 mas… alguns descolados vienenses já reconheceram!

WauWau é o nome da pequena manufatura austríaca especializada em moedores de pimenta – ou chili… ou noz moscada…- do designer Thomas Kreuz. Lá você encontra artigos exclusivos, feitos à mão com um carinho notável à primeira vista, de estilos variados desde os mais ousados até modelos mais clássicos mas todos muito elegantes e com acabamento impecável. O design é austríaco mas o coração é suíço: a “máquina” dos moedores são feitas por uma empresa familiar perto de Zurique. A precisão suíça – famosa pelos relógios – dispensa apresentações..

Eu descobri a linda lojinha da manufatura naquela noite quando voltava da palestra do Luiz Rufatto pela Westbahnstrasse (essa caminhada já rendeu o post do dia 29 de janeiro) e além de ficar impressionado com a beleza da loja, não conseguia deixar de pensar no simples fato de uma loja oferecer produtos tão exclusivos e tão especializados como… moedores de pimenta!! Afinal… estamos numa época em que lojas gigantes, impessoais, que vendem de tudo, tudo misturado, tomaram conta da sociedade. Apesar da vantagem de tornarem todo tipo de produto acessível, deixaram tudo com uma cara de mesmice incrível, uma chatice sem charme nenhum justamente porque são… impessoais! Simplesmente coisas a serem possuídas por um para dar lucro a outro. Isso é o contrário do que eu senti vendo a WauWau sem nem entrar na loja, só olhando a vitrine da calçada à noite, como eu gosto de fazer.

Mas pra comprar seu moedor nem precisa entrar na loja… os produtos estão à venda pelo site e eles, obviamente, também cuidam da remessa. Mesmo assim, eu recomendo uma visita à loja que é mesmo super agradável e lá você também encontra algumas esculturas super exclusivas da artista Ursula Weissbacher que merecem ser admiradas. Eu adorei!

Last evening I decided to make another little game with the followers of my account at Instagram posting the first picture above without comment, letting them guess what that is… I just posted another photo as a “second chance” and only later I will publish the solution, telling them what you are already finding out along this text 😉 but… some viennese hipsters already recongnize it!

WauWau is the name of a small austrian manufacturer that is specialized in pepper mills – or chilli… or nutmeg… – from the designer Thomas Kreuz. There you find exclusive wares, all handmade with a tenderness that you notice at first sight. They have diferent styles, some audacious, some classic but all very elegant and with impeccable finishing. The design is austrian but the the heart is swiss: the “mashine” inside the mills are made by a family trade nearby Zürich. The swiss precision – famous for the clocks – needs no presentation.

I found out the beautiful manufacturer’s store that night when I was walking the Westbahnstrasse, coming back from Luiz Rufatto’s literature evening (this walk was already subject of a posting on jan.29th) and besides being impressed by the store’s beauty, I could not stop thinking about the simple fact of a store selling such exclusive products, something so specific like… pepper mills!! After all… we live in a time when impersonal,giant stores took totally over selling everything mixed with everything at one time which gives everything such a boring aspect, the same of the same with no charm at all!! That happens exactly because it is all so impersonal!! Those are just things to be purchased by someone and give profit to someone else. This is not what I felt when I saw WauWau without even come inside the store. I just observed it through the windowshop at night as I normally enjoy doing.

But you don’t even need to go there to buy your pepper mill… the products are sold at their site and of course they take care of the shipping too. Even though, I recommend to visit the shop if you are around just because it has a super atmosphere and there you also find some super exclusive sculptures by artist Ursula Weissbacher that deserve to be admired. I loved it!
