Você já viu desenhos antigos do Batman, feitos lá na década de 30? Então é só imaginar aqueles prédios da cidade de Gothan City e você já sabe o que é art déco!

Os anos 30 e os loucos anos 20 foram a era de ouro desse estilo cheio de formas geométricas voluptuosas, exóticas e surpreendentes. Volumes mais generosos que os lábios de Angelina Jolie, com ênfase na textura dos materiais utilizados e simplicidade de linhas bem definidas foram a garantia de um estilo elegante que, mesmo depois de entrar em decadência, jamais foi totalmente abandonado ao longo do século XX.

Quem soube retomar o estilo potencializando suas características para atingir uma linguagem super pessoal e moderna é Kelly Wearstler, uma das interior designers mais queridas do momento (se é que se pode chamar os últimos 20 anos de “momento”…). Wearstler, logicamente, também é instagramer… @kellywearstler.

Seu estilo marcado pela exuberância de texturas parece ser sempre inspirado no padrão geométrico do próprio material que ela elege para cada ambiente, como se todo o resto fosse um desdobramento das linhas oferecidas por ele. Ela não esconde sua formação como design gráfica! Essa paixão por linhas e volumes formam um conjunto visual tão marcante e inconfundível que o estilo de @kellywearstler há muito já se tornou um ícone celebrado no mundo todo, não só nos Estados Unidos, seu país de origem.

Eu acho a personalidade do design de Kelly Wearstler tão forte e rigorosa que eu gostaria muito de ver um bom filme do Batman com cenários assinados por ela.  Quem sabe assim terminasse a onda dark da caracterização do personagem e voltasse, senão o humor, pelo menos um pouco da leveza da série de TV dos anos 60. Para de sofrer Batman!

Have you ever seen any old Batman cartoons, those made around the 30’s? So just imagine those buildings in Gothan City and you already know what is art déco!

The 30’s and the roaring 20’s made the golden age of this style that is so full of voluptuous, exotic and surprising geometric lines. Volumes that seem more generous than Angelina Jolie’s lips highlight the texture of the chosen material while the simplicity of well defined lines arethe garantee of an elegant style that was never totally abandoned during the whole 20th century, even after it became decadent.

The person who knew how to take back the style potentiating its features to achieve a super personal and current language is Kelly Wearstler, one of the most beloved interior designers at the moment (if you can call the last 20 years as “the moment”…). And, of course, she is also an instagramer, @kellywearstler!

Her style marked by the exuberance of textures seems to be always inspired by the geometric pattern of  the material itself that she chooses for each room, as if all the rest were just a kind of unfolding of those lines it offered. (She doesn’t hide her bachelor’s degree in graphic design!) This passion for lines and volumes form a visual whole that is so outstanding and unmistakeable that @kellywearstler’s style already became an icon celebrated worldwide, not only in her country, the United States.

I think Kelly Wearstler’s design personality is so strong and strict that I wish I could see a Batman film with sets signed by her. Maybe this way that dark style in his characterization would finally come to an end and, if not all the humour, at least some lightness from the 60’s TV series could return. Stop suffering Batman!
