As torres da catedral de Santo Estevão e a roda gigante são as duas imagens mais marcantes da skyline de Viena. Não dá pra imaginar a cidade sem uma ou outra. Eu acho incrível como uma roda gigante pode ser tão querida pela população de uma cidade… nem acredito que todo vienense faça visitas regulares a ela mas basta tocar no assunto que os vienenses ficam com uma cara de ternura como quando se fala… sei lá… de Papai Noel, por exemplo.

 

A roda gigante é a atração mais famosa de um grande parque chamado Prater, uma área verde originalmente destinada às caças imperiais mas que em 1766 foi aberto ao público pelo Imperador Joseph II, tornando-se o principal polo de diversão do vienense. Logo em seguida, começaram a ser abertos bares, restaurantes e brinquedos.

Até hoje a vocação pública do parque é respeitada e o acesso é garantido pela entrada gratuita. Não há nem mesmo cercas, o parque é totalmente aberto a qualquer um que queira passear por ali. É claro que, para entrar nos brinquedos, a entrada é cobrada pois eles são privados (administrados geralmente por famílias locais e não uma única grande empresa).

Agora que o tempo parece ter esquentado definitivamente, a estação do parque (que vai de março a outubro) pega fogo! Eu fui passear por lá pra fazer umas fotos pensando nesse post. Quando cheguei em casa morri de rir de mim mesmo pela seleção bizarra de brinquedos que fiz inconscientemente. Olhando as fotos percebi que adoro um trem fantasma, casa de monstros, tudo o que dá susto, mais do que os brinquedos de aventura. Nem um inocente carrossel escapou: em vez de fotografar os belos cavalinhos, preferi o personagem mais assustado do brinquedo. Rsrsrsrs

The towers of cathedral St. Stephen and the Ferris wheel are the two most outstanding images at Vienna’s skyline. It is not possible to imagine the city without one of them. I find it so unbelievable how a Ferris wheel can be so beloved by the inhabitants of a city…I don’t even believe every viennese visits it regularly  but as soon as you touch the matter they put on such a sweet expression like when you talk about… I don’t know… Santa Claus, for example.

The Ferris wheel is the most famous attraction of a huge park called Prater, a green area originally destinated to the imperial huntings but since 1766 it was opened to the public by Emperor Joseph II and became the center of etertainment of the viennese people. Soon after that many bars, restaurantes and amusement park features already started to appear.

Until today the public vocation of this park has been respected and the access is guaranteed by free entrance. There is not even a fence, the park is totally open to anyone who wants to walk around there. Of course, if you want to enter a ride, there is an entrance fee to each one. They belong private owners (normally local families and not a sole big company).

Now that the weather seems to get definitely hot, the saison in the park thatgoes from march to october burns! I went there to walk around and shoot some pictures thinking on this posting and when I got back home I had to laugh so much about myself due to the bizarre selection of rides I unconsciously made. Looking at these pictures I noticed how much I love a ghost train, monster’s houses and everything scary. Much more than the adventure’s rides. Not even an innocent carroussel scaped: instead of photographing the sweet beautiful little horses, I prefered the most scary character on it. lolol
