Já é muito popular no mundo todo o evento cultural chamado “Longa Noite dos Museus”, mas nessa sexta feira, dia 10 de junho, foi a vez das portas das igrejas austríacas, tchecas, eslovacas e suíças se abrirem durante todas a noite para a “Longa Noite das Igrejas”. O evento é uma oportunidade de conhecer uma grande variedade de igrejas cristãs e as peculiaridades de cada confissão (os subgrupos do cristianismo) que se refletem em ritos diferentes, tipos de arquitetura etc.

Ao todo, o programa cultural oferecido nas igrejas só da cidade de Viena ultrapassaram 3000 horas e teve muita gente peregrinando a noite toda de concerto em concerto. Eu também passei por algumas igrejas para ver o que estava acontecendo mas resolvi ficar com uma apresentação só: uma leitura musical na igreja Ruprecht, a mais antiga de Viena.

A fundação dessa igreja data de 740 e as partes mais antigas da construção que resistiram até hoje são de 1130. Ali, a artista Renate Stockreiter leu poemas do alemão Christian Morgenstern para os quais Marcus Hufnagl improvisou maravilhosamente ao Portativ, aquele pequeno órgão portátil tocado sobre o colo, que conhecemos das pinturas medievais de anjos musicistas. Foi uma apresentação mágica, dessas que o público fica querendo que nunca mais acabe, porque tem o poder de suspender o tempo, substituindo qualquer expectativa pelo deleite absoluto do momento presente. Enquanto Renate Stockreiter elevava as palavras de Morgenstern ao canto com sua fala espirituosa e rica em nuances, Marcus Hufnagl transformava seu pequeno instrumento numa verdadeira orquestra, capaz de descrever com exatidão os cenários emocionais evocados nos poemas de Morgenstern. Simplesmente inesquecível!

It’s already very popular all around the world to see the cultural event called “Long Night of Museums” but last friday, june 10th, it was the time for churches to open their doors for the “Long Night of Churches”. Not only Austrian churches but also Czech, Slovak and Swiss. The event is an opportunity to get to know a huge variety of Christian churches and the peculiarities of each confession (the subgroups of Christianity) that reflect themselves in diferent rituals, types of architecture etc.

Altogether, only in the city of Vienna, the cultural programm offered by the churches surpassed 3000 hours and there was a lot of people peregrinating all night from concert to concert. I also passed by some churches to see what was going on but decided to stay in only one show: a musical lecture at Ruprecht’s Church, the oldest in Vienna.

The foundation of this church dates 740 and the oldest part of the construction that remained until today date 1130. There the artist Renate Stockreiter read poems by Christina Morgenstern to which Marcus Hufnagl improvised marvelous music at the Portativ, that small portable organ played on the musician’s lap that we know from medieval paintings of musician angels. It was a magic show, one of those the audience just doesn’t want it to finish because it has the power to suspend time, replacing any expectations for the absolute delight of the present moment. While Renate Stockreiter lifted Morgentern’s word to singing with her speech, so witty and rich in nuances, Marcus Hufnagl transformed his small instrument in an full orchestra, able to describe with exactitude the emotional szenarios evoqued by Morgenstern’s poems. Simply unforgetable.
