O mercado está cheio de aplicativos para ajudar a administração de nossas contas nas redes sociais mas será que eles ajudam mesmo? Aqui está o que sei sobre dois deles: o Instafollow (péssimo) e Followers Insight (bom).

Desde que o meu Instagram disparou a crescer, tenho me preocupado em como não deixar que esse crescimento rápido influa negativamente na minha relação com os outros instagramers. A agilidade dessa rede social sempre me fascinou, mas ela não pode se sobrepor ao aspecto que para mim continua sendo a principal fonte de interesse no Instagram: comunidade. Desde o início observo o meu próprio comportamento, evitando ao máximo que ele se torne superficial demais como a agilidade propicia e o crescimento rápido praticamente obriga. Não é porque a conta está ficando grande que eu quero me tornar um mau seguidor dos meus amigos, mas como fazer isso com mais de 3.000 pessoas me seguindo?

Resolvi não seguir mais que 2.000 usuários, número que a meu ver já é altíssimo pra quem quer manter uma relação viva com seus seguidores, sem transformá-los em meros números numa contagem que almeja o infinito. (O Instagram permite seguir até 7.500 usuários mas não há limites para receber seguidores). E assim saí à procura de aplicativos para me ajudar nessa tarefa.

O primeiro aplicativo que instalei foi o Followers Insight. O serviço básico que ele oferece é super fácil de usar, disponibilizando uma visão geral da sua comunidade, principalmente, quem deixa de seguir sua conta, já que o próprio Instagram não dá essa informação. Com esse aplicativo eu consegui “segurar” um pouco o número de usuários que eu sigo, usando a reciprocidade. O problema foi quando o Followers Insight me deixou na mão travando com uma janela que obrigava entrar num tal de Mosaik (que nem entrando eu consegui descobrir o que é e nem por isso parou de travar o aplicativo). Depois de um tempo voltou tudo ao normal.

Enquanto estava com aquele problema, instalei o Instafollow. Os serviços básicos são os mesmos porém muito menos práticos, o que se faz com um clique no Followers Insight, precisa de 4 no Instafollow. Por curiosidade, resolvi pagar pelo serviço que mostra a atividade dos meus seguidores (engagement) e aí conheci a surpreendente falta de qualidade desse aplicativo. A lista que mostra os “seguidores fantasmas” (aqueles que te seguem sem nunca curtir, comentar qualquer post) é simplesmente uma mentira! Nem me interessa saber quais são os péssimos critérios que o aplicativo usa pra fazer a lista…. chega ao cúmulo do mesmo usuário aparecer na lista de fantasmas e na lista de “melhores seguidores” ao mesmo tempo!!! Observei o aplicativo durante um tempo e depois de ver vários seguidores que curtiram minhas fotos mais recentes – muitos deles “curtidores” assíduos – serem listados como “fantasmas” tenho segurança para dar a dica: pé na bunda desse Instafollow.

The market is full of apps to help us administrate our social media accounts but do they really help? Here is what I know about two of them: Instafollow (horrible) and Followers Insight (good).

Since my Instagram began to grow rather quickly, I started to worry about how not to let this fast growth have a negative influence in my relationship with other Instagramers. The agility of this social media always fascinated me, but it may not override the aspect that have been always my biggest interest joining Instagram: community. Since the beginning I observe my own behaviour, avoiding to let it get too superficial as the agility propitiates and the growth almost forces. It is not just because my account is becoming a big one that I want to turn myself into a bad follower of my friends, but how do I manage that with more than 3.000 people following me?

I decided not to follow more than 2.000 people, a number I considere way to high if you want to keep a lively relationship with your followers, without turning them into a mere number in a score that aims to infinity. (Instagram allows you to follow around 7.500 people but there is no limit to get followers). And so I started looking for apps to help me with this task.

The first app I installed was Followers Insight. the basic service offered is super easy to deal with, providing an overview of your community, specially who unfollows your account since Instagram itself doesn’t give this information. With this app I managed to dent a little the number of users I follow, using reciprocity. The problem was when Followers Insight dropped me out, getting locked by a window forcing me to register at Mosaik (which not even after registering I could find out what the hell that is, and it didn’t stop blocking the app either). After some days, normality came back.

While I was having that problem, I installed Instafollow. The basic services are the same as Followers Insight but much less practical. What you do with one click with Followers Insight, you nedd 4 clicks at Instafollow. For curiosity, I decided to pay the extra service showing the engagement of my community and here I met the surprisingly bad quality of this app. The list displying “ghost followers” (those who follow you without liking o commenting anything) is simply a lie! I don’t even care to know which inefficient criteria the app uses to make that list… it reaches the height of the same follower appearing in the ghosts list and in the “best followers” list at the same time!!! I observed the app for a while and after seeing various followers who liked my recent photos – some of them totally assiduous followers – appear again and again as ghosts I can honestly give the tip: kick this app out!
