Bom dia!! Antes de começar, só vou adiantar que daqui há pouco vou levar minhas visitas para fazer um passeio super gostoso. Em vez de sair correndo para ver os pontos turísticos principais (que não poderão faltar, claro!), vamos ver como se vive em Viena no bairro de casas antigas mais incríveis da Europa… logo, logo posto tudo!

Hoje queria falar de um tipo de requinte diferente, que eu chamo de “rough chic”. Rough quer dizer áspero e eu uso essa expressão para qualquer elemento que, à primeira vista, pareça duro demais para uma decoração, mas quando aliado a elementos contrastantes, que o “amoleçam”, o conjunto se torna harmonioso e dramático ao mesmo tempo. É somente nesse sentido que a palavra “chic” me interessa.

O elemento áspero, rough,  pode estar na parede descascada ou pintada sem preocupação com acabamento, presença de objetos funcionais e industriais, madeira também sem tratamento ou até mesmo pedras. Móveis antigos, desgastados, sem restauro, enferrujados etc. Tudo isso pode ser suavizado por uma combinação agradável e reduzida de cores, por texturas suaves e/ou macias como tecidos e porcelanas e pela presença indispensável de plantas (naturais ou não), livros e iluminação bem cuidada.

Good morning, before I begin let me just say that soon I will take my guests to a delicious ride. Instead of going straight to the famous touristic points (they won’t miss of course), we are going to see how life looks like in the Viennese neighnourhoods with the most incredible old houses in Europe… and I post everything very soon!

Today I would like to talk about a diferent kind of refinement that I call “rough chic”. I use the expression “rough” for any element that, at first sight, seems to be too hard to belong in a home decor but if you put them together with a contrasting element that soften it, the result becomes harmonious and dramatic at the same time. This is the only sense that the word “chic” interests me.

The rough element may be a wall without finishing or painted without care, the presence of industrial and functional objects, wood without finishing and even stones. Old furniture, without restoration, rusty etc. All that can be softenned by a pleasant and reduced colour’s combination, by tender and soft textures like textiles and porcelain and by the indispensable presence of plants (natural or faux), books and a carefully done lighting.
