Uma opção super interessante, prática e fácil de fazer para pendurar quadros (e outros enfeites de casa) são os “picture rails” ou trilhos para quadros. Os trilhos na verdade nada mais são que prateleiras bem mais estreitas com uma beirada um pouco mais alta para impedir que os quadros ou objetos postos ali em cima escorreguem.

A vantagem dos rails é que se pode experimentar com calma até encontrar a combinação certa (ou, como no meu caso, continuar trocando eternamente hehe). Além desse dinamismo, eles dão o contraste perfeito entre “ordem” e “bagunça” estabelecendo uma linha horizontal perfeita por baixo para todos os quadros, daí o mais bonito é usar quadros de tamanhos bem diferentes para que a parte de cima faça um “paisagem” bem variada… quase como o skyline de uma cidade!

Um exemplo que eu gosto muito é instalar uma só linha de trilhos na parede inteira e usar cores diferentes na parede abaixo e acima do trilho. Nesse caso, não há regras fixas: a parte debaixo pode ser bem mais escura ou mais clara, uma parte opaca e outra brilhante. Quem preferir criar um espaço mais íntimo pode usar uma cor bastante clara e opaca na parte debaixo e ter bastante coragem para uma cor muito escura e brilhante na parte de cima. A parte clara inferior dará a impressão de que os móveis estão próximos e dentro de um ambiente que se perde na escuridão da parte superior… ou seja, o contrário do que normalmente se pensa: é a cor escura que cria a ilusão de um espaço infinitamente maior do que aquele delimitado por paredes claras.

A very interesting, functional and easy option to hang pictures (plus any other home accessoires) are the picture rails. Rails are nothing more than narrow shelves which borders that are a bit higher to avoid that pictures and objects slide away.

The advantage of rails is that you can experiment many times until you find the right combination (or, like in my case, you keep changing it forever hehe). Beyond this dinamism, they give the perfect contrast between “order” and “chaos” stablishing a perfect horizontal line for all pictures and then the most beautiful thing to do is using frames of very diferent sizes so that the upper part build a varied “landscape”… amost like the skyline of a city!

An example I like very much is when you install only one rail in the whole wall using diferent wall colours underneath and above it.In this case there are no fixed rules: the part underneath may be much darker or lighter, one of them glossy and the other opaque. If you want to create a cozy space you should use the lighter colour underneath and have enough courage to paint the upper part with a very dark and glossy colour. The lighter part underneath will give the impression that the furniture are very close to each other whitin an atmosphere that gets lost in the infinte darkness of the upper part… that is, the contrary of tha people normally think: it is the dark colour that creates the illusion of a space that is infinitely bigger thant that limited by light colours.
