Passear por Viena tirando fotografias para alimentar o blog e o Instagram tem me trazido lembranças muito gostosas da cidade, mudando a relação que eu sempre tive com ela. Além de me deixar surpreender por coisas que vejo acidentalmente, também vou atrás propositalmente de coisas que me aparecem na memória, fazendo-me pensar carinhosamente sobre elas.

Uma dessas lembranças é uma loja de tapetes que fica no número 28 da rua Seilerstätte -a mesma rua da Academia de Música – no centrão de Viena: a Keshte Design. Enquanto eu era estudante, nem pensava em comprar tapetes, talvez por isso nunca tenha reparado no nome da loja mas parava ali todas as vezes pra ver o showroom pela vitrine pois além de tapetes e objetos lindíssimos, tudo sempre foi iluminado com perfeição… não tinha como deixar de olhar.

Pois bem, fui até lá pra ver como está hoje a loja, descobri o nome e muito mais… a Keshte Design – Alta Costura em Decoração – também tem uma coleção fantástica de móveis reciclados (quer dizer, várias!). Eles aproveitam móveis, principalmente dos anos 50 a 80, que são cuidadosamente restaurados por profissionais e cobertos por tecidos vintage ou modernos de alta qualidade e bom gosto (o que não deixa de ser uma boa inspiração para quem está longe de Viena e gosta de por a mão na massa).

Enquanto escrevo o texto, vou conferindo os dados no site de Keshte e acabo de ler algo que me esclareceu exatamente o fascínio que eu sentia desde tão jovem e tentei explicar acima. Eles dizem criar uma “simbiose da herança ocidental e oriental”. Isso é tão verdadeiro!! É a parte mágica do trabalho deles, que eu não estava reconhecendo!! Por isso eu gostava de ficar parado um tempão olhando pra dentro da loja: são produtos que me faziam viajar e sonhar!! 🙂

Walking around Vienna taking pictures to feed the blog and Instagram is bringing me back such adorable memories I have from the city and also changing the relation I always had with it. Beyond letting myself get surprised by things I see accidentally, I also search on purpose some things that appear in my mind making me think again about them with such tenderness.

A good memory like this is a rugs’ store at number 28 of Seilerstätte Street – the same as the Musica Academy – in the very center of Viena, called Keshte Design. WHen I was still a student, I didn’t think about buying rugs, maybe that is why I nevers payed attention to the name of the stora but I would stop there every time I could and watch their showroon through the windowshop. More than showing wonderfull rugs and accessories, everything was so perfectly enlighted… impossible to pass by and don’t stop.

So well, I went there to see how is the store nowadays, found out their name and much more.. Keshte Design – Haute Couture in Decoration – also has a fantastic collection of upcycled furniture (I mean, many collections!). The take old furniture, mainly from between the 50’s and 80’s, let it be carefully restored by professionals and covered  with vintage or modern textiles, all in such a high quality and good taste. For those who are far from Vienna and like to make their hands dirty… that’s also a good hint!

While I’m writing the text, I look at their site to control informations and I just read something that translates exactly the admiration I always felt, since so young, and which I tried to explain above. They say they create a “symbiosis between oriental and ocidental heritage”. This is just so true!! That is the magic about their work, which I couldn’t recognize before!! That i why I always loved to stop there for so long; the products they offer make me dream and travel over time and space!!
