Já vai longe o tempo em que os grandes clubbings da cidade  aconteciam dentro de alguns dos mais importantes museus vienenses – tais como o Museu de História Natural ou Museu Técnico.- que abriam assim seus espaços para atrair um público gigantesco  de uma só vez. A juventude tomava conta dos foyers históricos ao som da música tecno, que acabava de dominar a cena noturna. E todos ficávamos extasiados com a beleza monumental daqueles espaços. Sem extasy!

Hoje existem outras maneiras de buscar proximidade com o público e também a história é outra: estamos comemorando 125 anos do Museu de História da Arte de Viena (tão famoso mas tão famoso que muitas vezes seu nome nem precisa ser traduzido, vai em alemão mesmo, o Wiener Kunshistorisches Museum…)

A exposição de aniversário foi inaugurada ontem festejando essa data justamente com o tema: Celebração!! Foram selecionandas várias obras de arte que apresentam festividades urbanas e rurais na Europa entre a Renascença e a Revolução Francesa. As obras pertencem tanto à coleção do museu quanto às de grandes parceiros internacionais. Uma atração especial é o quadro “La gallina ciega” de Goya, emprestada pelo Museo do Prado e um outfit do designer Alexander Mcqueen do V&A Museu de Londres. Essa peça aliás abre a exposição, colocada logo na escadaria que recebe os convivas dessa grande festa que permanece aberta para visitação até 11 de setembro. Sua beleza é tão deslumbrante que eu não resisti e fotografei para mostrar aqui no blog mas acho que era proibido… por favor não contem pra ninguém!!! 😉

O clima de festa ontem na abertura dessa exposição sobre festas não podia ter sido mais contagiante, leve e simpático. Difícil falar em obras favoritas em meio à tanta beleza mas eu destacaria as estátuas barrocas feitas em açúcar (sim, isso mesmo) na sala que apresenta os banquetes da corte imperial austríaca, por sua delicadeza inusitada, e um arranjo floral feito especialmente para a abertura reproduzindo um bouquet de flores pintado por Bruegel, o velho, em 1607. O original também pode ser admirado em uma das salas do museu. Saúde!

It’s already far away the time when the biggest clubbings in the city all happenned within some of the most important viennese museums – such as the Museum of Natural History and Tecnical Museum – that openned their doors to attract a giant audience all at once. The youth took over those historic foyers under the sound of techno, the music that was dominating the night scene. And we all were enraptured and ecstatic with the monumental beauty of those spaces. Without extasy!

Today there are other strategies to come closer to a wide audience and also the story to tell is another one: this year we commemorate 125 years of the viennese Museum of Art History (so famous, but so famous that often its name doesn’t even have to be translated, we may keep it in german, the Wiener Kunsthistorisches Museum…)

The anniversary exhibition openned yesterday to celebrate the date exactly under this theme: Celebration!! The curators selected art works that represent feasts both in the cities and countryside in Europe between Renaissance and French Revolution. The works belong to the museum’s collection itself but also to important international partners. A special attraction is the picture “La gallina ciega” by Goya, borrowed from Museo do Prado and an outfit by designer Alexander Mcqueen from V&A Museum in London. By the way, this work opens the exhibition, placed right in the stairs that welcomes the guests to this huge feast which remains open for visitors until september 11th. Its beauty is so dazzling that I could not resist and took some pictures to show you here in the blog although I believe it may be prohibited… so don’t tell anybody!!! 😉

The festive ambiance yesterday in this exhibition openning about feasts couldn’t be more contagious, light and sympathetic. It’s dificult to talk about favorite works in the middle of so much beauty but I would mention the barroc sugar statues (yes, that is exactly that) in the room showing the banquets at austrian imperial court, because of it unused delicacy and a floral setting which was done specially for the openning and reproduces a flowers bouquet painted by Brueghel, the old in 1607. The original can also be admired in one of the rooms in the museum. Cheers!
